Last night,
Oak Bay council passed a bylaw permitting
low-speed electric vehicles on its roads – the first municipality in British Columbia to do so. According to the new bylaw, little green cars like the
ZENN (at left) are allowed on
roads with speed limits up to 50 km/h, which covers every street in the municipality. Kudos to mayor Chris Causton, and Oak Bay's council and staff, for displaying great political foresight. If the rest of the Capital Region follows suit, EVs will really be getting somewhere.
